A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a crash on a Hampshire road.

Police were called to Morestead Road, Winchester, at 2.15pm yesterday after reports of a collision involving a red and white Ducati 749 motorbike and a mauve Citroen C4 Grand Picasso.

The motorbike rider, a 54-year-old man from Kings Worthy, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

The road remains closed while repairs are being carried out, and police say it is expected to reopen on Monday, October 11.

A Hampshire Constabulary statement says: "We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw what happened, or saw the two vehicles driving in the area prior to the collision.

"In addition, if you have dash cam footage of the vehicles and/or the collision, please call us.

"Any information you have, no matter how insignificant you think it might be, could help our investigation.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 44210405931."
