PASSENGERS using the Red Jet service between Southampton and West Cowes are facing days of disruption.

The company has announced that a mechanical issue involving Red Jet 7 has forced the company to take the vessel out of service until repairs can be completed.

The crew of the high-speed catamaran began to experience problems with its starboard inner jet unit.

A Red Funnel spokesperson said: "Until Red Jet 7 returns to service, we need to make some cancellations to scheduled crossings and operate a reduced service.

"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to some of our passengers, especially to our regular commuters.

“Our teams are busy adapting the timetable as well as doing all they can to get Red Jet 7 back in service as quickly as possible.

"We encourage customers to consider using our ferry vehicles as an alternative option, which are currently running to timetable.

"We will endeavour to give customers as much notice as possible about any further disruptions, so they can plan ahead, and will share a further update on Thursday afternoon.”
