A Southampton MP has been shown the ropes at the areas newest indoor climbing centre.

Romsey and Southampton North MP, Caroline Nokes was special guest at Parthian Climbing's new climbing facility at Adanac Park in Nursling which has been inspiring people to try climbing for the first time.

The 25,000 square foot purpose-built centre includes extensive bouldering walls, top rope and lead climbing, auto belays and speed climbing.

Designed to appeal to all levels from beginners to experienced climbers, the wall saw Nokes trying out climbing for the first time.

She said: "“It was my first experience of climbing and thoroughly enjoyed it.

"I was delighted to hear Parthian Climbing Southampton has brought new jobs to the region as well as providing a fantastic new recreation centre for people of all ages to enjoy.

"I wish them all the best for the future.”

The new facility saw 20 full and part time jobs created when it opened and now John Dunne, CEO of Parthian Climbing, has said: "We were delighted Caroline was able to take time out of her busy schedule to come and visit us at our new climbing centre in Southampton.

"We want to inspire the next generation of climbers. It’s a fun way to keep active and the chance to learn a new skill."
