A SOUTHAMPTON man assaulted a woman with a heated up spoon has avoid prison.
David Alexander Leach appeared in court on October 8 following a string of violent attacks on a woman in January.
The court heard how the 47-year-old repeatedly assaulted his victim between January 3 and 22 this year.
On one occasion, the abuse involved an injury caused by a heated up spoon causing her actual bodily harm.
Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, he pleaded guilty to one count of assault causing actual bodily harm and four counts of assault by beating.
Leach, of Ridding Close, Southampton, was committed to prison for four months suspended for four months and was handed a restraining order banning him from contacting his victim or visiting her address.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and court costs of £200.
