A SELECTION of 20 real ales are set to be on offer for pub goers in Southampton this week.

On Wednesday, a total of eight Wetherspoon pubs in and around the city will begin their 12-day real-ale festival.

Running until October 31, the event will see 20 British and Irish real ales available including Black Sheep Monty Python's Dead Parrot, Wolf Lazy Dog, Rooster's Long Shadow, Thornbridge Shelby, Exmoor Wicked Wolf and Salopian Hop Twisted.

The participating pubs are; The Standing Order, The Giddy Bridge, The Admiral Sir Lucius Curtis, The Bright Water Inn, The Wagon Works, The Red Lion, The Lord Arthur Lee and The Crown Inn.

The Giddy Bridge manager, Alan Shorthouse, said: "The festival is a great celebration of British and Irish ales."
