THERE are so many places to go for a meal in Southampton – to the point that it can be hard to choose.

But if you are fancying Thai food, then these are the best places to go according to Tripadvisor.

Some are in the city centre and some are not too far of a drive, a few other takeaway, and others do not.

See the list below:

7. Thaiger Lounge, High Street, Hamble

It will take a while to read through the menu here, as it is EXTENSIVE.

Thaiger Lounge is open Tuesday to Sunday, 5pm til 11pm.

Reviewer Sarah M said: "Upon our first visit we decided to come back and celebrate our anniversary and then decided to come back and celebrate our sons' 18th birthdays.

The food is amazing and reasonably priced. The staff are very welcoming and friendly.

5. Leelawadee Thai Restaurant, Commercial Road

Leelawadee claims to offer "an escape from the outside world" to dine and share food in traditional Thai fashion with family and friends, tasting dishes inspired by different regions of Thailand.

It is open Monday to Sunday, and offers both eat in and take away services.

Reviewer Paul D said: "Very pleasant comfortable restaurant , we were met and seated by a very nice lady and the service from both of the waiting staff was excellent."

4. Thaikhun, Watermark Development (near Westquay)

This restaurant in the city centre has just introduced a brand new menu – on top of its regular favourites.

It serves classic Thai dishes and vegan options, including some modern twists.

3 and 2. Mango Thai (Above Bar Street and Portswood Road)

Not a bad effort from Mango Thai, taking both the bronze and silver medals for this list.

The two family-owned and run restaurants celebrated their 10 year anniversary in 2017.

Both are covered in fascinating decor, and the longevity of the business speaks for the quality of the food.

Reviewer Carol B said: "I've eaten from Mago Thai plenty of times before including their takeaway service and I'm never disappointed."

1. The Thai Corner Restaurant, Marsh Parade, Hythe

Almost every review on this restaurant show it is worth the drive from Southampton.

The owners believe in fresh local ingredients and only use vegetables and meat from nearby suppliers, all located in the Hythe and Waterside area.

All the Thai ingredients are imported straight from Thailand.

Reviewer Dave R said: "One of the best Thai restaurants I've been in Tremendous food."
