MOTORISTS are being warned as parts of the M27 are set to close for a whole weekend.

Those who are planning to drive on the M27 between Junction 9 and 11 are being told to plan ahead as deep reconstruction works are due to take place.

From 9pm on Friday, October 29, the eastbound M27 will close between Junction 9 for Park Gate and Junction 11 for Wallington.

The closure will continue through the weekend until 6am on Monday, November 1.

Signed diversions will be in place and traffic travelling eastbound should leave the M27 at junction 9 and take the third exit at the roundabout onto the A27 towards Fareham.

Drivers should continue on the eastbound A27 and re-join the M27 at junction 11.

A National Highways spokesperson said: "Congestion is expected, so drivers are advised to plan ahead and leave extra time for their journeys."

This comes after the work was originally planned to take place earlier this month but was cancelled due to bad weather.

Junction 9 for Whiteley will remain open and shoppers can still access the shopping centre throughout the work.
