LANE closures are due to be put in place next week as work begins at Redbridge Causeway.

The well-used crossing has been undergoing repairs worth millions over recent months in order to prepare it for increasing volumes of traffic.

Below is all you need to know about the latest works:

What is happening and how long will it last?

Gas distribution company SGN will be completing a mains diversion on the Southampton site.

This will be taking place from October 25 to November 17 with various closures in place throughout.

What areas will be affected?

Lane One of the Eastbound A35 will be closed from 4am on Monday until November 17 at 8pm.

Test Lane will remain open to traffic but with a two-way traffic light system in place until November 17.

The north footway of Redbridge Causeway will remain open for the duration of the works.

What will this mean for those travelling in the area?

The left-hand lane of the eastbound A35 carriageway will be closed from the approach to the Totton slip road until the start of the slip road off to Redbridge Roundabout.

The Totton on-slip-road will be narrowed / shortened and will merge with the single lane of eastbound A35 traffic in the right-hand lane.

A temporary 30mph speed limit will be in force with works carried out during the day only, but this will include weekends.

Traffic management will remain in place outside these hours for safety reasons.

Works on Test Lane will be carried out during the day only, but this will include weekends.
