SUNNYFIELDS Farm annual pumpkin festival is back – and it’s bigger than ever.

Pumpkin Time, which runs until October 31, is expected to attract over 50,000 pumpkin-pickers to the farm.

After the success of the farm’s “Pumpkin Pyramid” in 2019, this year’s spectacular display features a Cinderella’s carriage, a creation inspired by the farm's partnership with The Mayflower Theatre.

Visitors can also enjoy picking pumpkins from around the perimeter of ‘Pumpkin Town’ and from the pick your own field.

Shelley Wilson, Sunnyfields Farm events and social media manager, said: “There are eight different types of pumpkins and squash used in the display, and it took three members of the team plus pumpkin passers over eight days to complete.

“There are thousands of pumpkins and squashes in the display alone, and we think there are about a quarter of a million pumpkins and squash here in total.

“It has been a large step up from last year when we just did a display. A lot of effort went into this year’s display and people are getting involved with it.

“Pumpkin Time is open all the time until October 31. It’s great for families to come for a day out. We have had so many people come through.”

On Saturday, October 23 and Sunday, October 24, all of the slots for Pumpkin Time were fully booked.

Shelley said: “We have 250 people here every half an hour time slot, with four to five thousand people here in a day.

“We have sold 50,000 tickets, which is 8,000 more than last year. We still have a few tickets left, and we’re hoping to reach 60,000.

“It’s much more of an experience this year and people will stay a bit longer.”

Partners Kit and Laura Murtha visited the farm with their three children on Saturday and were impressed with the offering.

Laura said: “This is the third year we have come in a row. It’s definitely on a larger scale this year.

“It’s really nice to do it with the children and there is definitely more to do than last year.

“It’s nice because it is all outside too. We feel quite safe because it is a large space and although there are lots of people here, it doesn’t feel like it.

“Sunnyfields is not a place I had heard of until they started doing this. We will definitely come back.”
