AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a woman who suffered a fall at home and was not found until two days later.
Bridget Theresa Cahalane had fallen at her home in Church Road, Bishopstoke, but was not discovered for 48 hours by her neighbours.
The 89-year-old was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, in Winchester, on September 24 but her condition deteriorated, and she died on September 30.
Area coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp opened an inquest into her death at Winchester Coroner’s Court.
A post mortem has been carried out and gave a preliminary cause of death a pneumonia, dementia and muscle necrosis due to long lie.
Ms Rhodes-Kemp adjourned the hearing for a full inquest to take place on May 25, next year.
