The 71-year-old added: “I mean you see it in big cities and London but to suddenly find out it’s on the streets of Lymington.

When asked about her reaction to the assault, she said: “I was devastated. Very, very sad for the entire families involved with all of it.

“There’s a ripple effect that goes on and on and on. It’s such a waste. It’s a waste of life."

The town Mayor, James Hoare, previously said: “I was deeply saddened by the events in Lymington High Street.

“My thoughts are with the friends and family of those who have died and are injured in this terrible crime.”
