ROMSEY'S popular Beggars Fair will return to the town’s streets, pubs and venues next year after a two year hiatus.

The event, which has suffered Covid cancellations the past two summers, will take place on Saturday July 9 2022.

Organisers hope to use all the usual favourite venues, plus new ones including the new piazza which has quickly established itself as a focal point in the town.

Musicians, dance acts and street entertainers are being encouraged to visit the event website to register their interest in being part of Beggars Fair 2022.

New chair of the Beggars Fair, David Vane, hopes the event will return stronger than ever after its enforced two-year absence.

He said: “Performers and audiences alike have missed the Beggars Fair, and we want to give them a great welcome back. We’ll aim to do what we’ve always done - deliver a brilliant family day out.”

Mr Vane has taken over the Beggars Fair helm from Delsia Bartlett, who served as its chair for the past 13 years.

“Delsia has done a brilliant job,” added Mr Vane. “I’m looking forward to building on her success and keeping the Beggars Fair as one of the highlights of the Romsey year.”
