THE spike in Covid cases across Southampton appears to have reached its peak, figures would suggest.

More districts are now shaded in blue on the Government data map, which shows they have a case rate of fewer than 399 per 100,000 people.

In the seven days to October 26, 18 of the city's 31 areas reported an increase in cases, 12 a decrease, and one 'no change'.

This was when compared to the previous week, and is the latest data available.

As a whole, Southampton reported 1,363 cases, down 47 or 3.3%. This is the first time the city has reported a decrease in more than two months.
