A BITTERNE hair and beauty salon which has proved a cut above the rest in its seven months of trading has been crowned the Daily Echo’s Hairdresser of the Year 2021.
Amia Hair and Beauty in Deacon Road scooped first prize in our hard-fought contest for our readers favourite place to have their hair styled or enjoy a much-needed pamper.
Echo readers nominated their favourite Hampshire salon and the entries were whittled down to 24 finalists.

Amia Hair and Beauty, which was launched by Louise Collins in April, scooped the top prize ahead of a host of other salons dotted around the region. They included Creswell Barbers and Peppe’s in Shirley and Chris Ashleigh Hair Design and Elegance in Totton.
Louise told the Daily Echo: “We would like to thank everyone who has supported us since opening and continues to support us, all regular clients and new.
“We look forward to many years of Amia Hair and Beauty and can’t wait for you to be on our journey with us.
“To win such a big award in such a short amount of time means so much to all of us and we wouldn’t have been able to do this without you all.”
Louise, who had worked at the previous salon on the site for nine years, decided to go it alone earlier this year. Her Grandad thought of the moniker, a girls name which means beloved.
The salon specialises in all aspects of hair and beauty with a brilliant team of stylists who all have their own specialities.
“As a salon we aim for high standards,” added Louise. Our clients are our priority.
“Not only do we want them to feel pampered whilst in the salon, we want them to feel comfortable and relaxed.
“Our clients are loyal to us as a salon, we love to see them walk out with a smile.
“When they’re within the salon chair they know we listen, we treat them with high standards throughout their whole salon experience.
“Luckily we already had a busy clientele, but since opening we have only got busier thanks to our clients support.
“Everything takes time and we still have work to be done, but we have already as a salon achieved so much.”
