THIS Government map illustrates how Southampton is healing from a spike in Covid.

Last week, the Echo reported that four areas were in the worst possible category for their case rate per 100,000 people (dark maroon shading).

Now, a chunk of the map is blue – and most purple districts (the second worst category) are reporting daily decreases in case numbers.

The map compares data reported in the seven days to November 2 to the week prior, the latest figures available.

Overall, six of the 31 Southampton districts reported an increase in case numbers, one no change, and 24 a decrease.
