EVERY November the UK honours those who have died at war on Remembrance Sunday, which falls on November 14 this year.

It is traditionally marked by wreath-laying, wearing poppies and memorial ceremonies across the country.

Here is what you need to know about the services taking place across Southampton on Sunday, as well as other useful information.

What is happening in Southampton?

City centre

The Remembrance Parade and Service with members of the armed forces community is set to return after a year's absence due to Covid-19.

Starting at 10.30am at Guildhall Square, the parade will conclude at the Cenotaph in Watts Park, shortly before 11am.

Attendees to this event are recommended to have been double vaccinated or have completed a negative lateral flow test (no more than 48 hours before attending).

For those unable to go in person, a highlight video of the service is set to be shared across the city council's social media that afternoon.

The Southampton 02 Guildhall will also be illuminated red on Remembrance Sunday.

Hedge End

A Remembrance Parade will take place in Hedge End on Sunday, with serving veterans, uniformed groups and associated members of the armed forces setting off from the 2000 Centre at 10.30am.

This will be followed by the service - led by the Reverend Kelvin Taylor - and two minutes silence and wreath laying at the Cenotaph.

West End

A remembrance service will be held at the West End war memorial (next to the graveyard on the High Street) from 10.50am.

A temporary road closure will be enforced and there will be plenty of space for residents to gather around.

It is hoped the service will be joined by several Second World War veterans living locally.
