PUPILS from Stroud School in Romsey were immersed in other languages and cultures at a special one-off event.

Held every two years, the Language and Culture Day aims to promote language, culture and civilisations.

The focus of the day was Portuguese, Chinese Mandarin and Japanese languages. Children also enjoyed some fantastic activities involving Italian, French, German and Sign Language.

Origami sessions were particularly popular, as were Latin American Dancing sessions, including Samba, Tango and Paso Doble.

The school believes it is paramount that children are given the opportunity to become multi-lingual as the immersion in a foreign culture can open new avenues of self-exploration and personal growth.

A greater language learning experience leads to the development of new skills and additional confidence.
