A PAIR of knives has been seized from a 13-year-old boy in Southampton.

Two teens were stopped with a moped in the Romsey Road area last night by police.

Following a search, one of them was found to be carrying two knives.

A post by Shirley Police on social media said: "Officer on patrol this evening around Romsey Road (The Mount) stopped two lads with a moped.

"On searching them one was in possession of two big knives. The moped wasn't stolen but a 13-year-old is being dealt with by the team for possession of knives."

Meanwhile, officers have been patrolling the north of the city following a spike in burglaries.

A witness appeal was launched yesterday following an attempted break-in on Burgess Road.

Police have urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour.

A post from Southampton Cops stated: "Southampton North Neighbourhood Officers have been out in Highfield this evening, following an increase in Burglaries. We are asking residents to vigilant for any suspicious behaviour, if you are concerned please report it by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency."
