A SHOPLIFTER dragged a member of staff by their arms as he tried to flee a convenience store.
Police deployed to a shoplifting and assault incident in New Milton have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of robbery.
It comes after he was seen to enter McColls on Avenue Road yesterday (November 18) at around 1.50pm.
A staff member noticed him acting suspiciously.
It was reported that a number of items had been placed inside the man’s coat and scarf before attempting to leave the store without paying.
An altercation ensued between the man and the shopkeeper as he tried to leave the store, resulting in the staff member being dragged a short distance by the arms.
Eventually the man left the shop, but was located a short while later by local police and arrested a man, 23, from Sway.
He remains in custody at this time.
