A WELL-loved campaign that commemorates loved ones and celebrates special causes at Christmas is back.

Communicare's annual Tree of Light campaign has returned, making 2021 its 13th year of lighting up the city and people's lives.

Southampton residents are invited to sponsor a light for a suggested minimum donation of £7 by December 20.

Communicare manager, Annie Clewlow said: "We’re hoping many will join us for our celebratory events, which allow for people to get together and remember, as well as acting as a bright beacon against loneliness in our city.

"It’s also an opportunity for anyone who wishes to support us to donate. All the funds raised will go towards our services, which extend a helping hand to members of our community experiencing challenging circumstances, which is particularly poignant at Christmas-time but prevalent all year round."

The charity's free switch-on events take place on December 4 in Woolston Millennium Garden at 5pm and December 5 in St Mark’s Church on Archers Road at 5pm.
