A WOMAN has been rescued in Southampton after being forced into a car almost 100 miles away. 

This morning, an arrest was made in the city after reports that a woman had been forced into a car in Gloucester against her will. 

The incident took place around 5.25pm yesterday with the vehicle later being identified and located on Bitterne Road West this morning.

The woman was found inside a property and is said to be "safe and well". 

A man in his 20s was also arrested on suspicion of kidnap. 

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police told the Echo: "The investigation, which is led by Gloucestershire Constabulary, is in the early stages and it is believed those involved are known to each other."
