A WINCHESTER man took his own life after suffering a ‘traumatic childhood’ and problems which he became fixated on, an inquest has heard.

Hal Moore, 69, was found dead in his flat in Bereweeke Road on April 27, this year, by a neighbour who had become concerned.

On the day before he died Mr Moore spoke to his daughter about his chronic fatigue but she attempted to change the subject, the hearing at Winchester Coroner’s Court was told. In a text to his daughter before taking his own life, Mr Moore said that “compounded with other issues I’ve had enough”.

A post mortem carried out found that Mr Moore died due to hanging.

Recording a conclusion of suicide, area coroner Jason Pegg said that Mr Moore was “someone who had been diagnosed with anxiety and depression sometime ago”.

He added: “He was someone who would be fixated on various matters including issues related to his childhood.”

Mr Moore’s sister said at the inquest: “He was a bit of a troubled soul really. He was lovely, we loved him, but he did have his problems, he didn’t seem to be able to get the better of them.

“He was very fixated by them, it seemed to take up his thinking time.”
