TWO people in the UK have been found to be infected with the new variant of Covid-19, the BBC reports.

The two cases are related, its report adds.

Sajid Javid said the cases were detected in Nottingham and Chelmsford.

The Government adds the people involved are linked to travel to southern Africa.

It comes just a few days after the variant, known as Omicron, forced a number of countries, including South Africa, to be put on the Red List.
