THREE Eastleigh neighbours have banished the Monday blues after winning a combined £120,000 with People’s Postcode Lottery.

The windfall comes after their postcode, SO50 9JP, was announced as a winner with the lottery on Monday, November 29.

Two of the winners scooped a £30,000 prize each, with the third winning £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets.

Len Miller, 52, first learned that he had won during a video call with lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson, where he was presented with a cheque for £60,000.

He said: “I lost my job two years ago and what I earn a month at the moment can’t even afford my rent, so this is going to put a roof over my head.

“It could not have come a better time to be honest, it really couldn’t.

"I had three dogs, mum, son and daughter. But the mum had to be put down ten weeks ago as she was too old.”

Len said with his windfall he will get a treat for himself and his pets: “The first thing I’m going to do is book a very long weekend in Cornwall in a little cottage for me and the dogs.

“They have everything, treats every day. They keep me going.”

Len also hopes to treat his daughter with some of the winnings.

He said: “My daughter and her wife just moved for a new job, they moved 50 miles away. Hopefully over the weekend or next weekend we can go out somewhere for a nice meal, that would be nice.

"I can’t wait to see my bank statement next month.”

Another winner was Val Handley-Greaves, 71, who scooped a prize cheque for £30,000.

The mum-of-four said: "That’s brilliant, it’s just brilliant. I’m thrilled. We’ve never had a lump sum before so it’s really exciting.

"We’ve talked about it and I would like a new kitchen. It’s probably going to go into the house.

“We’re retired and we like our holidays as well so some of that’s going to go on holidays.”

The other winner wished to remain anonymous.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson presented the winners with their prize cheques via video call.

He said: “I am so happy for Len and Val, this win couldn’t have happened to nicer people.

“It sounds like they’re already planning some nice getaways and I hope they enjoy spending the cash.”
