NOT for profit Give a Gift Southampton has released a Christmas single.

Written by Lauren Green and Daniel Bremner – who perform under The Good Lies, This Christmas Eve features local artists Jodie Poye and Henry Newbury as well as Megan Rose, Neptune Rain, Connor Leckenby and The Wombourne High School Choir.

Set up seven years ago by Jodie and Paul Brough, Give a Gift is their way of giving back to the hospital that they both spent a large portion of their younger years in.

Daily Echo:

Jodie was born with Spina Bifida and had ground-breaking leg lengthening surgery at the General Hospital as a teen and Paul was under care for a number of surgeries on his stomach.

Give a Gift was initially a one off music event where instead of an entry fee, unwrapped gifts were donated. These were then delivered to the children and their siblings in the wards on Christmas morning by the Give a Gift team and Father Christmas.

The event has grown every year and to date the team has collected and delivered over 4000 gifts to sick children at Christmas.

Daily Echo:

"There has been talk of wanting to do a Christmas single for a few years," says Jodie.

"We could not be happier with the way this single has turned out, the track is beautiful and a really perfect way to show the ‘Give A Gift’ ethos and what Christmas is all about."

Two music events will take place for the cause this year - at The Strawberry Field Tavern in Locks Heath on December 4 and The Hook in Warsash on December 11. Entry is free, just bring along an unwrapped gift that can be taken to the hospital on Christmas Morning by the team.

This Christmas Eve is available now on all major music platforms.
