AN investigation has been launched after a 12-year-old girl was inappropriately touched on a town road.

Police in Fareham say that the young girl was walking along Harrison Road last Wednesday when the incident happened.

At around 4.30pm, a man who she did not know approached her and touched her chest over her clothing.

He then walked off towards the nearby Southampton Road junction.

The girl was not hurt but now extra patrols have been taking place in the area and police want to identify who the man was.

The girl described him as white, in his fifties, 5ft 6ins tall, of large build, with short grey straight hair.

He was said to be wearing a navy blue jacket and dark blue jeans.

A police spokesperson said: "The Neighbourhood Policing Team has been patrolling the area and enquiries have been undertaken to identify relevant CCTV. No other similar reports have been received.
