WORK will begin this Friday to upgrade the Fleming Arms Bridge in Swaythling, which may cause delays in the area of the closure.
The existing timber bridge is failing, according to an engineering assessment, and will be replaced with a new steel one.
The work will be going on from 8pm on Friday, December 3, until 6am on Monday, December 6.
As a result, Wide Lane will be closed from the bridge next to the Fleming Arms pub to the roundabout on Mansbridge Road.
Vehicles will not be able to pass under the bridge in any direction during this time.
Access to the Fleming Arms car park will be via Wessex Lane only for the duration of the work.
