A COMMUNITY garden project has seen a "great response" according to borough chiefs.

Eastleigh Borough Council's project to transform a former multi-use games area saw residents join together to create a new garden space behind the Salvation Army on Blenheim Road.

A spokesperson for the authority said the project has grown further since the summer, with members of the community working to tidy the space and replant flowers and plants.

Now though, the project team are set to go again as they work with Eastleigh Men's Shed to build new raised beds which will continue into spring 2022.

On November 13 the community worked with Mens Shed on the first new planter for the site, which also included some welcome signage to name the space.

The next event will see a workshop to make Christmas decorations for the garden or to take home take place on December 11.
