A HUGE new Lidl has opened its doors in Hedge End for the first time today (December 2).

The supermarket on Tollbar Way has created 40 new jobs for the local community.

It will swing open its doors from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am – 4pm on Sunday.

This Sunday during the opening weekend, customers will be able to find exclusive deals and offers on selected products, including a 'Build Your Own Remote Controlled Car'.

Lidl GB’s regional head of property, James Mitchell, said: “It is fantastic that we are able to open our doors and welcome local residents into our highly anticipated store in Hedge End.

"We would like to thank everyone who has played a part in delivering this store and we look forward to serving our multi-award-winning products to the local community.”

This weekend, there will also be exclusive deals on Monopoly Junior (£11.99) and the Guinness World Records 2021 (£7.99).

The new store is part of the company’s ongoing £1.3bn expansion and regeneration plans across Great Britain for 2021 and 2022.

It will have a 1,441m² sales area and feature facilities including an in-store bakery, customer toilets and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.

Photos will be available soon.
