PLANS for new homes in a Southampton neighbourhood have been unveiled.

Nine new homes could be built at 501 Bursledon Road.

If the plans are approved, the existing home at the site would be demolished to make way for seven three-bedroom and two two-bedroom homes.

In official documents written on behalf of the applicant, CMCd Architectural Service said the new homes will be targeted at young families  and first time

buyers.

Two parking spaces are expected to be proposed per each home.

Developers said: “The accessible location of the site also means that regular bus services serve the location, with easy links to the city centre.

“The existing site access will be retained and dropped kerb widened to provide suitable access.”

Cycle storages and charging points for electric cars are also expected to be provided.

Developers added: “It is contended that the proposed development would represent an efficient use of the site, in a sustainable location and in a sustainable form, whilst paying due regard to existing development densities, prevailing character, residential amenity and highway safety.

“The council is therefore respectfully requested to approve this planning  application.”

The final decision is set to be taken by Southampton City Council.
