HAMPSHIRE Constabulary is reassuring the public that the visibility of armed police is “normal and according to plan”.
This come after the UK’s terror threat level was raised to ‘severe’ a few weeks ago and public spaces become increasingly busier as the festive season gets underway.
A spokesperson for the force said: “As we enter the festive season, you may see some of our armed officers out and about.
“This is part of our normal, planned patrols to keep residents, visitors and businesses safe.
“If you spot anything that looks suspicious, please come up to our officers and let them know.”
Southampton residents can expect to see officers at the Christmas market in the city centre.
