THE MET Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Southampton ahead of the arrival of Storm Barra tomorrow.

Yellow wind weather warnings are in place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland for Tuesday, December 7, with high winds set to batter the city.

This comes after Storm Arwen took force across the country late last month, affecting thousands of people.

The Met Office has said strong winds may result in potential travel disruption in places.

Here's what to expect:

  • Likely delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport.
  • Some bus and train services may be affected, with some journeys taking longer.
  • The high winds may see some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities be affected by spray and/or large waves.
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible.

Storm Barra, a deep area of low pressure moving in across the UK from the Atlantic, is likely to bring high winds to many parts of the UK.

Gusts of 45-50 mph are expected widely, with 60-70 mph in exposed coastal locations.
