THESE pictures were taken when a pint of milk cost 16p and a Mars chocolate bar would set you back 15p.
The year was 1980, and much happened to change the world of music forever.
In January the first UK Indie Chart was published in Record Business. The first single to reach number one position was Where’s Captain Kirk? by Spizzenergi.
In March the pirate radio station Radio Caroline was forced to end transmission. The ship it broadcast from, MV Mi Amigo, ran aground and sank off the Thames Estuary.
The world was shocked when The Beatles member John Lennon was shot dead in New York outside his home on December 8 by Mark Chapman.

The best selling single in the UK charts that year was Don’t Stand So Close To Me by The Police.
