A NEW defibrillator is expected to be installed at the front entrance of a community organisation in Bursledon.

Bursledon and District Community Association is the new recipient of a public access defibrillator (PAD) thanks to a donation from housebuilding company Taylor Wimpey.

The donation to the organisation will help those who experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest within the area, providing potentially life-saving treatment.

Emma Yates, centre manager at the Bursledon and District Community Association, said: "We are very grateful for Taylor Wimpey’s generous gesture and support of our local area.

"This equipment will save precious time should we ever face a rainy day and have to deal with a life-threatening situation. When emergencies like this happen, it’s so important to receive care as soon as possible as the first few minutes are absolutely crucial.”

Roz Wells, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, said: "It’s a great feeling to know we are working alongside Bursledon and District Community Association in helping to ensure that more defibrillators are available for local people who might need them.

"Not only will these be easily accessible but it is also reassuring to know that it’s there in the event of an emergency."

The Bursledon and District Community Association went through a refurbishment back in 2014 and now boasts a public library, parish council offices, coffee shop and three halls.
