AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a 64-year-old man after he fell down the stairs at his home.

Keith James Goodman fell at around midnight on December 1 at his home address in Monks Road, Netley Abbey.

He hadn’t woken by 3pm the following day and paramedics were called. Mr Goodman was admitted to Southampton General Hospital.

Doctors discovered that Mr Goodman had suffered an intracranial haemorrhage which was inoperable. He rapidly deteriorated and he died on December 3.

An inquest has now been opened into his death by senior coroner Christopher Wilkinson.

No post mortem has been carried out but a cause of death has been given as traumatic intracranial/intraventricular haemorrhage, along with fall whilst on Rivoroxaban – an anticoagulant.

Mr Wilkinson adjourned the hearing for a full inquest to take place on May 25.
