A SERIAL burglar ransacked a Southampton clinic and broke into a safe.

A prolific burglar equipped with a screwdriver broke into the Avenue Clinic in Bedford Place, a court heard.

Prosecution barrister, Amber Athill, told how the 35-year-old ‘ransacked’ the chiropractors, breaking into a safe and stealing around £300 in cash.

However, Southampton Crown Court heard how Dixon has a string of previous burglary convictions.

Dixon was caught on CCTV trying to break into Sugarflick Brazilian waxing studio in Bedford Place twice in August last year and is currently already servicing a jail sentence.

Appearing before Southampton Crown Court on Thursday, Dixon, formerly of Millbrook Road West, was charged with a single count of burglary.

Miss Athill told how Dixon wrote to police while in custody to admit to his most recent offence.

He also admitted to committing a total of eleven similar burglaries.

Dixon has an extensive criminal record and was jailed in 2019 for breaking into an orthodontic clinic, also in Bedford Place.

On another occasion, he tried to break into a barbershop in Oxford Street.

Defending, Susan Ridge told how there had been a ‘history of abuse’ within Dixon’s family home and that he was first before the courts at the age of 13.

Furthermore, one of his brothers had committed suicide.

She went on to say that Dixon’s “use of substances triggered a stroke at the age of 18” and that he had low-level disabilities.

Nonetheless, he is said to have remorse for the burglary which happened on August 23 last year.

She argued for the judge to give him credit for his guilty plea.

The court Recorder, Mr Robin Sellers, scolded Dixon for his crime saying it was a ‘massive inconvenience’ to the clinic. He jailed him for a total of 36 months.
