WORK is due to take place on a major Southampton road to install a new electronic road sign.

Southampton City Council has written to residents to warn that Thomas Lewis Way will be reduced to single file traffic for ten nights from January 10.

This is so that works can be carried out to safely install a new electronic variable messaging sign.

Two-way traffic lights will also be in place throughout the work.

Once completed, the sign will warn motorists heading into the city of any delays, diversions or road closures in order to ease congestion.

Work will take place between 7pm and 6am.

Tree clearance will also be required with this due to occur for two nights from January 10 .
