A MAN has been charged following a spate of shoplifting incidents in Southampton.

Thomas Amos, 35, of no fixed abode, has been charged with 12 counts of shoplifting.

Southampton police have been investigating a series of thefts that happened between November 23 and January 6.

On Tuesday, November 23, fragrances to the value of £209 were stolen from John Lewis in WestQuay.

Four days later an electric toothbrush, to the value of £300, was taken from Boots on Above Bar Street.

On Sunday, November 28, a number of fragrances, to the value of £145, were stolen from John Lewis again, and on the same day so we're a number of gift sets to the value of £98 from Boots on Above Bar Street.

November 30 saw a quantity of fragrances, to the value of £901 stolen from John Lewis.

The following incidents all occurred in John Lewis: December 7, clothing, to the value of £842; December 13, items of clothing, to the value of £587; December 16, a quantity of fragrances, to the value of £407; December 21, a quantity of fragrances, to the value of £560; December 24, a quantity of alcohol to the value of £449; January 4, items of clothing, to the value of £1,388.

Between November 23 and January 4, Amos breached a restraining order prohibiting him from entering John Lewis.

Amos was also charged with being in possession of Class A drugs (diamorphine) and possession of Class B drugs (cannabis) on January 6.
