POLICE were called to reports of a burglary taking place at a Hampshire supermarket last night.
Officers later arrested a man who was found to be carrying a "large quantity" of meat and alcohol.
The break-in occurred at the Waitrose supermarket in Hythe.
Officers had earlier carried out patrols in another part of the New Forest in a bid to combat burglaries and thefts from vehicles.
Posting on social media New Forest Heart Cops said: "Just finished patrols in the Minstead, Bartley and Lyndhurst areas.
"Then went to a break-in progress at Waitrose in Hythe and ended the shift by using our stop and search powers to detain and search a male who was found to have a large quantity of meat and alcohol on him.
"He’s been reported for the offence."
