A car crashed into a stream in a village near Winchester last week.

The car demolished some concrete pillars and steel railings on its way into the River Itchen opposite the former HH Inn in Cheriton on January 7.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: “At 10.28am on January 7 we were called to Bybrook in Cheriton where a car had come off the road and ended up in the stream nearby.

“No injuries were reported to us.”

A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call at 10.35, and our crew from Winchester station attended. One car on it's side in the water upon arrival and no persons trapped.

“Our role was to inspect and advise re: environmental protection. The environmental agency were also notified. We received the stop message at 11.09.”
