ONE of his most successful scholars will front a special charity dinner in his honour.

To commemorate ex manager Dave Merrington's final year commentating on Saints games for BBC Radio Solent, Saints legend Matt Le Tissier will join broadcaster Adam Blackmore at a sporting dinner at a city restaurant next week.

Featuring an interview and question and answer session, there will also be a three-course dinner showcasing some of the best dishes from Ottoman Kitchen as well as a raffle and charity auction at the event, which takes place on Thursday January 20.

Daily Echo:

Matt is the former PFA Young Player of the Year who spent his entire professional club career with Southampton, winning eight England caps.

He will be joined by the former manager who guided him through the club's youth set up for a lively discussion of their memorable past.

Tickets are priced £39.95 with £10 from each ticket plus proceeds on the night going to the Saints Foundation, the club's charity arm.

Tables of four to 12 are available for the event, which has already been rearranged three times due to Covid.
