A MAN has been banned from driving after he crashed on a narrow country road.
Police were called to Stanswood Road, Fawley, on December 15 after a vehicle had flipped onto its roof and was blocking the road.
Liam John Barton, 32, of Lepe Road, Blackfield, was subsequently arrested and charged for drink-driving.
He appeared at Southampton Magistrates Court on Thursday January 13 and was subsequently disqualified from driving for 16 months.
He was also fined £653 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £65 victim surcharge.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "It comes after officers, were deployed to the incident on the December 15 2021 where the vehicle had flipped onto its roof and was blocking the road. Thankfully no-one was hurt and the driver had managed to get out of the vehicle.
"Officers carried out a roadside breath test – with the driver of the vehicle found to be over the drink-drive limit.
"The Department for Transport launched a campaign during the month of December around drink-driving however it’s message still rings true in the new year."
