RESIDENTS of Eastleigh have been given advice on how to stop their garden waste freezing after collection issues.
A spokesperson for Eastleigh Borough Council said that the authority's garden waste collection is currently being affected by frozen waste in some bins.
It is said that the moisture has the potential to freeze and then become stuck in the bin, preventing emptying.
Now residents have been advised to loosen the materials inside the bin before presenting it for collection and to not overfill or over pack the bin as this compacts the garden waste particularly the materials at the bottom making it more likely to freeze.
Residents are also being told that keeping the lids closed can help to reduce moisture build up and therefore keeping them in a garage or shed can also help prevent the waste freezing.
