A MAN in his 50s has died after a BMW crashed into a ditch in Southwick.

Police were called to the B2177 Southwick Road at 6.30pm yesterday evening (Sunday, January 30) following reports of a single vehicle collision. 

Upon arrival, officers found a black BMW 3 Series had left the road and entered a ditch.

A man in his 50s from Waterlooville was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations are now underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident, which took place on the southbound carriageway between Staple Cross Lane and Southwick.

Police have also launched an appeal for anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the crash, or anyone who may have dash cam footage from the area.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a collision near Southwick.

"Officers were called to the B2177 Southwick Road following the single vehicle collision at 6.30pm on Sunday, January 30.

"The black BMW 3 Series left the road and entered a ditch.

"The driver, a man in his 50s from Waterlooville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Investigations into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing and we would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the collision, or anyone who may have dash cam footage from that area from around the time of the incident.

"The collision happened on the southbound carriageway, heading towards Southwick, between Staple Cross Lane and Southwick.
