DRIVERS faced large delays on three motorways yesterday after a series of serious incidents.
Monday motorists travelling on the M27, M3 and the A31 on the morning of Monday, February 7 were caught in the midst of chaos due to three separate incidents.
In case you missed it, and were one of the lucky ones not caught in traffic, here's what happened:
Broken down crane on the A31
Delays hit drivers on the A31 westbound between the M27 and A338 at Ringwood due to a broken down crane.
One lane on the A31 westbound carriageway was blocked between the M27 and A338.
At the time, National Highways said there were four miles of congestion which "is likely to cause 30 minutes delays above normal journey time."
Police were on the scene and recovery also attended.
Multi-vehicle crash on the M3
Lanes two and three were blocked on the M3 eastbound near Winchester following a crash between multiple vehicles.
The crash happened between Junction 9 and Junction 10 on the M3 eastbound.
Ambulance crews and police officers were at the scene of the crash, which, at one point, backed up to Junction 12 (Chandler's Ford).
M27 crash
Similarly to the M3, there was a multi-vehicle crash on the M27.
Lanes 1 and 2 (of 3) were closed on the eastbound side of the motorway between Junction 8 at Windhover and Junction 9 at Fareham.
Police were the on scene along with recovery and motorists faced three miles of congestion on approach.
Delays of 55 minutes later began to ease
