Southampton 2025 Trust has announced Hampshire Chamber as the latest business to join the Gateway Club, a business membership community created to support Southampton’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2025.

The club was created to enable organisations to become business ambassadors for the bid. The business-to-business network is part of a wider fundraising strategy for the bid which is led by Southampton’s 2025 Bid Director Claire Whitaker OBE.

Ross McNally, CEO of Hampshire Chamber said: “Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and its Southampton Chamber leadership team are delighted to be a member of the Gateway Club.

“Southampton provides unrivalled qualities to become the UK City of Culture in 2025 and we look forward to working with the Club to ensure our members and the local business community work together towards achieving a successful outcome.”

A number of renowned businesses and organisations have pledged their commitment. They include ABP Associated British Ports, Business South, GO! Southampton, Lee Peck Media, Hendy Group, The Orange Rooms and Abri Housing.

Gemma Nichols, Commercial and Marketing director for Southampton’s UK City of Culture Bid, said: “The Gateway Club embodies Southampton’s unique cultural identity, representing its creativity, ambition and positioning as a global business Gateway to the world.

“Becoming a member unlocks opportunities to connect and collaborate with key stakeholders and decision makers, while providing fantastic opportunities to network with local, national and international business leaders, develop influential business connections, attend exclusive business events and to utilise membership to engage employees.

“It is the perfect platform for any business to show their support for our bid to become UK City of Culture 2025. We are thrilled to have Hampshire Chamber of Commerce as our newest members, and we look forward to working with them to increase our business support across the wider Hampshire region for the bid”.
