SOMETIMES you crave a meal out but can't afford the typical bill of at least £15-per-person.
But in Southampton, you don't have to break the bank for an evening without cooking.
Here are just a few ideas of where to go:
Cheap restaurants in Southampton
Paddle And Peel (it’s A Pizza Thing)
Price range: £4-£9
You can't go wrong with pizza - especially when it's this cheap AND tasty.
Those interested can catch the mobile food truck in various locations in the city.
For a safe bet, visit the South Western Arms pub every Tuesday and Wednesday.
The truck will be there from 5.30pm-9pm.
One reviewer said: "If you're going to walk 4.5 miles each way, for anything, especially on one of the hottest days of the year ... it's a prerequisite that the reason is going to be worth it. It was."
Miss Ellie's Cafe, Manor Farm Road
Sandwiches, baguettes and baps between £2-£4
This popular cafe has been mentioned on many of the Daily Echo food roundups in recent months - because it seems to excel in every category.
One reviewer said: "Five out of five. Great food friendly service, highly recommended. Travelled from Kent found on trip advisor exactly as described."
Sulas Greek Taverna, Portswood Road
Dishes from £4, full meals range as far as £15
No extra points for guessing what cuisine this popular eatery serves.
The family-run business specialises in pita gyros wraps, traditionally cooked on a rotary, and served fresh.
"Very enjoyable experience, food is very tasty, and a good value," said a reviewer.
"I will be back here again, you can have my word."
Piecaramba!, Carlton Place
Pie meal, including mash and mushy peas, £10.95
Piecaramba, which also has establishments in Winchester and Brighton, is renowned for its delicious pies.
But it is hard to believe just how cheap they can be.
It's difficult to get a full meal of such quality for just under £11 anywhere.
