A FURTHER arrest has been made after a man was hit and left in a serious condition following a collision with a car.

The driver of the car - black Skoda, who hit the man crossing Civic Centre Road, did not stop after the incident just before 10pm on March 2, police say.

They instead fled in the direction of Cumberland Place.

Now, a 29-year-old Southampton man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and was released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Hampshire police confirm the victim, aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He was crossing the road with a group of people after attending a FA Cup match between Saints and West Ham United.

Previously police confirmed the arrests of a 53-year-old man from Kent on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and a 50-year-old man from Kent on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

DS Christian Reid-Milligan from Western Investigations said: “We are still asking for witnesses to this collision so please contact us if you have any recollection of what happened.

“Did you attend this football match and see the collision afterwards on your way home? Did you film it on your phone?

“If you have CCTV, dash cam or ring doorbell footage showing the incident we would also like to hear from you.

“Any evidence, no matter how small you think it may be, could greatly help our investigation.”
