A WATERSIDE pub is to reopen its doors to customers today following a half million pound renovation to give it a fresh new feel.

The Fisher's Pond, near Colden Common, has undergone a complete transformation since work began on Valentine's Day.

Changes include the addition of a stylish private dining area and a beautiful new garden area for customers to enjoy this summer and beyond.

Along with the new look, the relaunched Fisher’s Pond has introduced an all-new brunch menu serving a selection of popular dishes including full English breakfast, Eggs Benedict and various other egg dishes, avocado on sourdough and pulled beef brisket hash. Brunch will be served from 9am until midday Monday to Saturday and 11.30am on Sundays.

The new dinner menu will offer freshly cooked dishes including chargrilled skewers, stonebaked pizzas, steaks and roasts.

Sharing and grazing boards are expected to prove popular and there's an impressive children's menu on offer too.

Customers will also have an extensive selection of wines, gins, craft beers and cocktails to choose from.

Following the refurb, eight new jobs have been created and bosses are currently recruiting for both front and back of house roles.

General manager Ben Stothard said: “We’re working hard to create a stimulating experience for our guests and are so excited to unveil the new Fisher’s Pond.

Daily Echo:

“The changes are all centred around creating an original country pub with a real difference. The new Fisher’s Pond will provide both our regulars and first-time guests with an exciting location to enjoy high-quality dining in beautiful surroundings.

“Both myself and the whole team are incredibly excited to open the doors and welcome guests to experience the new Fisher’s Pond for themselves. We hope that they love the transformation.”

With its name taken from the pond which it sits on, the Fisher's Pond is set in a tranquil countryside location teeming with wildlife.

Daily Echo:

Originally planned as part of a garden city, the area was declared a green belt in 1937 and further development ceased.

Formerly a tea room called Fisher's Cafe, the building later became Fisher's Pond Waterside Pub and Dining Room.

Located on Main Road, the pub has always been a popular watering hole on the route to nearby Marwell Zoo and is part of the Vintage Inns chain, which has 186 country pubs dotted across the UK.

Daily Echo:

A handful of keen locals were the first to experience the all-new Fisher’s Pond by attending rehearsal lunch and dinner events on Tuesday, giving them the opportunity to explore the new menu prior to the official opening at a 50 per cent discount.

An exclusive launch event including live music and canapes for invited guests also took place on Wednesday.

Whether it is summer or winter, guests can expect a warm welcome.

Daily Echo:

On sunny days, you can sit on the verandah and watch the ducks and swans float by and there are roaring log fires to cure those winter blues.
