CLIENTS and friends of Studio Twenty 3, the personal training studio in Chandler’s Ford, came together in a huge fitness fundraiser to help support a local Explorer Scout raise over £4,000 to attend the World Scout Jamboree.

Matt Taylor, aged 16, from Chandlers Ford, will now travel to South Korea in 2023. The funds will also help pay for other Scouts and Guides from all over the world to join the Jamboree.

The team of personal trainers from Studio Twenty 3 led hour-long fitness sessions across the day and those taking part wore Myzone fitness monitors, which track heart rate, calories and intensity with a simple points system called MEPs (Myzone Effort Points). The harder the wearer is working out, the more MEPs they earn. The target was to collectively complete 5,621 MEPs on the day – matching the total number of miles between Chandler’s Ford and South Korea.

Matt set a personal goal of earning an impressive 1,000 MEPs on the day.

Fitness fans brought so much energy and enthusiasm to the fundraiser that the target goal was soon achieved, with everyone working up a sweat and ultimately burning off a grand total of 9348 MEPs.

Matt is one of 149 Hampshire Scouts selected to attend the World Scout Jamboree. The past few months have seen him working hard to fundraise for his trip to South Korea as well as raising money to support less fortunate Guides and Scouts to attend. Matt and his family regularly train at Studio Twenty 3 and came up with the fundraising idea together with owner Gareth Allen.

Daily Echo:

Gareth told the Daily Echo: “It’s been brilliant to see so many of our clients, plus their friends and families turn out to support the cause and have fun while burning off a few calories at the same time.

"We love seeing people reach their goals, both in the gym and elsewhere, so today’s been really special. Some of our clients who couldn't be here today have worked out at home, sent in their MEPs and helped us reach our goal."
